As strange as it may seem to people from places other than Portland, we get excited and happy when we get rain and thunderstorms. It is fresh and beautiful, artwork in the sky, and a great reason for us to slow the pace down and enjoy the wonderful gift from Mother Nature.
I am so excited ! I love the gentle rain this time of year, a wonderful reprieve from the Summer sun.
We can anticipate the return of the warm weather, it feels so good once the sunshine returns, after bathing our city in the washing of the rain. Flowers thrive and bloom, everything is green and lush, all provided by the rain. All the plants at Iron House thrive and grow, creating that *Secret Garden* effect, when you walk through the grounds.
By the weekend the sun will return, the convertible tops come off, motorcycles travel the streets and avenues, walkers are out in full force, and the bikes hit the roads and trails once again, picnics and gatherings at the park... Everyone you see is smiling and happy.
My mother always told me, *We are the happiest when we have something to look forward too*...this must be why we are a happy populace in Portland Oregon, always looking forward to the next stream of sunshine.
